This last week has been cram-chock full of creative activities, and since I have a few moments, I figured I’d document a smidge of it for the adoring public.
Monday – Labor Day, more website tweaking, finishing up the shrug for dance classes. Et cetera.
Tuesday – Let the new Sizemology session begin! Ballet Barre Burn with the lovely and talented Pamdemonium. This is my first toe dip into ballet since I was a child, but figured it would do wonders for flexibility and grace, since the flexibility’s been hampered by an injury in Febraury. Fabulously fantastic and will become a standard item on my schedule. After Triple-B is the Cabaret class with Miss Anna, and as per usual, it’s the sexiest classic dance class you can imagine. The chair number from last session was phenomenal. Then, Cabaret Academy with Salome Cabaret. This is something I’ve always wanted to explore, and since the opportunity is there, why not? I have a fascination with the art form, and so now, I will learn first-hand about the skills needed and with a bit of practical performance knowledge, it’ll give a bit more inspiration when I’m working on the Cyn Discretion costuming.
Wednesday – Breather! Fortunately, I’ve built time into the schedule to just take a breath, and Wednesday is one of those nights. Date Night with the boy!
Thursday – Originally booked as a stretch n’ breathe at Sizemology for immediate post-work timeframe, but ended up as a bit of a break with the studio sisters. Then, it was time for tap! Tap has been ridiculo-fun since getting over the childhood dance classes – granted, the older knees are not hugely happy about the current floor status, but that’s just a matter of a short time until that issue’s mostly resolved.
Friday – Breather! Social night! The latter didn’t quite happen, due to unforeseen events for one of the anticipated attendees, but has been rescheduled for next week.
Saturday – Holy bejeeblies, y’all. I wonder why I go back to the alleged “real” work on Monday tired, and I think I know now. Jazz Technique class at Sizemology (any wonders why I refer to it as a dance addiction?), which was, as usual, phenomenal. Afterwards, lunch with the boy at Chuy’s, nothing amazingly spectacular but it was tasty. Then – off to the shopping races to work on the list from the Academy on Tuesday night. In person shopping resulting in boy shorts obtained, and an idea was had regarding fringe attachments to make the core piece even more flexible for costuming. Extra points for making the lady at Dillard’s speechless regarding why I was buying them. Those silly ladies. I would think they’d have heard everything by now. Homeward return, and the online shopping began. Found a pair of pasties I really liked, but not in the correct color. Contacted maker to see if that could be changed, answer was received most quickly, and then pasties were ordered with notes regarding color! Amazon was then hit up to order some books, also under the impetus of the Academy – Burlesque and the Art of the Teese / Fetish and the Art of the Teese and also The Burlesque Handbook. As a plus, I also snagged a gift for a friend and also a print of it for myself. The mail should be interesting!
Special request from the boy made up dinner – so there was a hand-mixed meatloaf, with homemade mashed potatoes. I won’t ascend my soapbox about mashed potatoes at the current time, but maybe in the future.
On the costuming front, I also appear to have a new project for an apparently satisfied client, and I’ve managed to get that pattern ready to go. The last item for yesterday was designing the logo for the Costuming section of the site, and that should be up soon – hopefully, I’ll also have photos of the last two costumes completed. Fingers crossed!
Today, I fully intend to cool it a bit, and probably find a corner to curl up and cross stitch and/or read in, and then see if I can breathe a bit. And the best part, this is pretty much what next week’s schedule looks like too – I guess it’ll keep me out of trouble!
Semper eadem, semper mutans! (Always the same, always changing!)
